BIOGRAPHY
Kate Gaffney & Ben Chandler share an unprecedented musical connection that sounds as if they’ve been playing together for decades. Their collaboration began in late 2025 when Kate asked Ben to accompany her for a Philadelphia Folksong Society performance. The chemistry was undeniable. They fuse acclaimed songwriting, soaring vocals, nuanced harmonies, and dynamic guitar work to craft original music that is deeply personal and authentic. It’s folk-chic, cosmic-tinged Americana that captures the intimacy of a front porch jam and the vibrant energy of a rock club. This compelling duo showcases Gaffney’s powerful voice and Chandler’s instrumental strength while featuring their engaging lyrics and poignant melodies. Drawing inspiration from classic rock, alt-country jambands, Greenwich Village and Laurel Canyon-era folk, Lilith Fair songstresses and even 1980s power ballads, they deliver timeless performances that resonate with audiences as storied as their influences.
Folk Chic
Kate Gaffney and Ben Chandler have such a musical partnership that it sounds like they’ve been playing together for decades, though it’s been less than a year. Their collaboration began in late 2025 when Kate asked Ben to accompany her for a Philadelphia Folksong Society performance. The chemistry was quickly obvious. Their sound blends Gaffney’s narrative lyricism with Chandler’s instrumental strength as their two voices harmonize behind it. It’s cosmic-tinged, folk-leaning Americana music that features lush harmonies, dynamic instrumentals, the intimacy of a front porch jam combined with the energy of a rock club. Drawing influence from classic rock, classical training, Laurel Canyon-era folk, Lilith Fair-era songstresses and even 1980s power ballads, they deliver performances that speak to the heart, make feet tap, and heads bob.
Kate Gaffney
Kate Gaffney is a storyteller, sharing her journey through life and the lessons learned along the way through song. Born in Florida and raised in Pennsylvania, she spent more than two decades traveling between the East Coast and Northern California, drawing inspiration from the people and places she encountered along the way. Her songwriting is vivid and immersive, often placing listeners right beside her, “riding shotgun” through life’s moments of love, loss, and discovery. Gaffney has released four albums: Highways, The New Then, The Coachman, and Here by the Ocean, and is currently producing new work, mentoring under longtime collaborator, Andrew Lipke, at her own TiredWired Studios. A seasoned performer, she has appeared at major festivals including the Philadelphia Folk Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, earning a reputation for authenticity, warmth, and emotional depth.

He has been creating music practically his entire life after being born and raised near Rochester, New York by parents who are both professional musicians. He started with piano, studied French horn, and found the guitar at age 12. Since then he’s spent his days dedicated to writing and performing music. He earned a degree in sound recording technology from SUNY Fredonia while exploring a wide range of musical experiences, from founding the jam band The Winter Caps to playing bass in the rock band Haze. He then moved to Philadelphia, worked as an audio engineer at Indre Studios and Big Sky, with producer Drew Raison, who is producing his forthcoming release of original music. Chandler’s songwriting reflects on love, hope, and the complexities of life.
